Christina Aguilera and Kanye West have been added to the lineup of performers for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards airing Sept. 7.

Ms. Aguilera will perform a special rendition of “Genie in a Bottle,” marking the 25th annual VMAs and celebrating its most memorable performances.

Mr. West will close out the show, which will be broadcast live from the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood. It was previously announced that Britney Spears will open the show.

The list of performers and presenters has been expanded to include Jamie Foxx, Chace Crawford, Ashlee Simpson, John Legend, Kobe Bryant, Leona Lewis, Paris Hilton, Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Slash, Taylor Swift and Shia LaBeouf.
