Sci Fi Channel has given a six-episode order to “RelicQuest.”
The investigative adventure series will be hosted by documentary filmmaker Bruce Burgess, who will travel the world to uncover objects believed to have hidden powers and mystical significance.
Mr. Burgess will attempt to uncover the true story behind Moses and Mount Sinai in Cairo. He also will travel to Montsegur Castle to investigate the Holy Grail of the Cathars and seek the Armageddon Priscillian Codex in Amman, Jordan.
Production on the show is expected to begin in October for an early ’09 launch.
“‘RelicQuest’ fits perfectly with the kind of investigative reality programming viewers enjoy on Sci Fi, proven by the success of our original series ‘Destination Truth.’ It explores the mysticism and mythology of legendary artifacts rooted in real history and set in fascinating locales,” Dave Howe, president of Sci Fi Channel, said in a statement.
“RelicQuest” is produced by Mr. Burgess, Rene Barnett and Bluebook Films.

History buffs should enjoy this program.Shows that mix history and mystery can be compelling viewing. I'd enjoy a segment exploring what happened to Alexander the Great's body. It was on display in Alexandria for centuries, then disappeared.
The biggest challenge for me will be to find out when the programs are presented. The SciFi channel's schedule isn't included in the Des Moines Register's TV listings.
