Top Web Video Sites Resisted Holiday Slump

Jan 19, 2009  •  Post A Comment

The top five most popular online video sites stayed mostly steady in visitors and videos viewed in December compared with the month before, Nielsen Online reported.
That suggests viewing habits for sites such as YouTube, Hulu, MySpace, Yahoo and the Nickelodeon group have become entrenched, since those destinations held onto viewers even during the holiday break, which often brings a lightened traffic load.
YouTube delivered 5.6 billion streams of video to nearly 85 million unique visitors in December, on par with November. Yahoo served up 224 million streams to 22 million unique visitors last month, about a 6% jump in streams. Fox Interactive Media, led by MySpace, also delivered 224 million streams, a dip of about 8%.
Hulu and Nickelodeon stayed on pace with the prior month.
