Current TV Names Levine President of New Media

After slashing about 60 jobs last fall, cable network Current TV hired Paul Levine as its president of new media. He’ll be based in the San Francisco headquarters. Current TV currently reaches 58 million homes.

He replaces the former Joanna Drake Earl, who recently became chief operating officer for Current.

Mr. Levine joins the young-adult-skewing network from the Internet world, where he most recently worked at the online ad marketplace AdBrite. He also held executive posts at Yahoo, eTrade and AdBrite.

Mr. Levine will be tasked with developing new programs and revenue streams for Current TV’s online, mobile and alternative platforms. He’ll also focus on Current TV’s Web and TV convergence strategy.
