Michalchyshyn Confirmed as Planet Green President/GM
As expected, Discovery Communications on Thursday officially announced the appointment of Laura Michalchyshyn as president and general manager of its Planet Green network.
The network will have offices in New York and Silver Spring, Md., where Discovery is based.
Ms. Michalchyshyn had been executive VP and general manager of Sundance Channel, which launched a green programming block in 2007.
During Discovery's fourth-quarter earnings conference call with analysts on Wednesday, Discovery President-CEO David Zaslav said naming a head for Planet Green was imminent. However, the announcement was delayed until Sundance owners Cablevision’s earnings were announced Thursday.
