Oh No! Has Oprah Missed Signs From God?

Mar 1, 2018

Ever since her electrifying speech at the Golden Globes on Jan. 7th, there has been talk that Oprah Winfrey should become a candidate to run for the presidency of the United States in 2020.

She made headlines again on Wednesday, Feb. 28th, when People magazine reported that Oprah said – about running for the presidency – that she had gone into prayer: “‘God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.’ And I haven’t gotten that.”

Oprah’s comments about getting a sign from God reminds me of this old joke, a variation of which I’m sure a lot of you have heard:

There’s a torrential downpour in a small town, hitting one neighborhood very hard. Flooding is predicted. As the waters rise and start to get into people’s houses, the sheriff drives his Jeep over to Joe’s house to evacuate him. Joe declines to go, saying, “I’ll be fine. If God wanted me to go, he’d give me a sign.”

The next day, as the waters continue to rise, the sheriff takes a motorboat and once again travels to Joe’s house, and urges Joe to come out of the house and into the boat. Joe shouts out of his second floor window, “I’ll be fine. If God wanted me to go, he’d give me a sign.”

As the rain and the flooding continue, the following day the sheriff, now in a helicopter, sees Joe on his roof, and tells him that he will lower a rope to get Joe out of there. Joe waves him off, shouting, “I’ll be fine. If God wanted me to go, he’d give me a sign.”

Joe drowns, and finds himself talking to God at Heaven’s Gate. “God, I’m one of your more loyal human beings. I can’t believe you never gave me a sign.” God replies, “What are you talking about? I sent a Jeep, a boat and a helicopter and you ignored them all.”

Oprah, Donald Trump beat 17 Republican challengers and the Democratic standard-bearer to become president of the United States. Almost everything he has implemented and wants to implement you are against. Seems to me that’s a pretty clear sign to you from God.

Here’s another one. You stand for inclusivity and positive thought. Regarding Trump’s recent negative tweet about you, you said, “You don’t win by meeting any kind of negativity head-on.” Likewise, you told Ellen DeGeneres recently, “I don’t like giving negativity power, so I just thought, ‘What?’”

Besides assailing you in a tweet, Trump specializes in negative tweets. According to the Trump Twitter Archive, since becoming president Trump has sent

239 tweets using the word “loser”

202 tweets disdaining the media

183 tweets using the word “stupid”

72 tweets using the word “pathetic”

64 tweets using a variation of the words “haters and losers”

52 tweets using the word “moron”

In the words of the late, great Kurt Vonnegut, “So it goes.”

Oprah, you, and others, may have doubts about your qualifications to be president of the United States.

But on the question of whether or not God thinks you should run, I think she’s been very clear about that.

  1. OMG Chuck! Stop shaving all of your body hair and come out of your safe space for a moment. Negative Tweets got your panties in a bunch? When Trump was running for office he said he was going to “drain the swamp” which has plagued DC for decades. The only way to get through to them is to call them out on social media … which he does so very well. It is the only way to get them to respond. In case you weren’t aware, politics is a blood-sport … one that Oprah could never handle. One negative ad that runs nationally about her and she would crumble inside. She. Isn’t. Thick. Skinned. It’s funny how the left dreams about Oprah running in 2020… and totally dismisses there own party hopefuls like Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, etc. God knows better than to have Oprah run, I think he’s been very clear about that.
