Independent production shop Homerun Entertainment is bolstering its executive ranks as the company expands into more original production for the Web.
Homerun hired Greg Spring as VP of development and promoted coordinating producer Steve Plutte to VP of production, said Barry Gribbon, CEO of the company. Mr. Spring will focus on the core business of cable and TV, freeing up Mr. Gribbon to pursue new online deals.
Homerun is best known for its work with Scripps Networks and produces shows such as “Food Finds” for Food Network and “Home IQ” for DIY.
In addition, Homerun has produced more than 450 Web series for various clients, including for HGTV’s Web site HGTVpro.com, Mr. Gribbon said. He will focus on striking deals with cable networks and Web sites to create online series.
Homerun will also craft its own original content for distribution on the Web. Mr. Spring joins HomeRun most recently from Pie Town Productions.
