Presidential candidate Barack Obama has initiated a television advertising campaign in key states that paint his Republican opponent John McCain as out of touch with the economic struggles of the middle class, the New York Times says. The spots he’s running on local TV tend toward the negative while his national ads broadcast during the Olympics are more positive, the paper notes. The Democratic candidate’s local spots have appeared in Philadelphia; East Lansing, Mich.; Green Bay, Wis.; and at least five other major cities, the Times notes.
