DTV Switch on Track Despite Storms

Wilmington, N.C.’s NBC affiliate, WECT-TV, is ready for the city’s official transition to DTV Sept. 8, Broadcasting & Cable reports. The southeastern United States is currently under threat from three tropical storms brewing in the Atlantic Ocean, which may cause problems when the move from analog is made Monday. The Wilmington market’s switch, a test run before the national switch set for Feb. 17, 2009, should go on as planned, however, unless “there are lives at stake,” said WECT’s general manager Gary McNair.
