Bruce Beresford-Redman, a former producer on ‘Survivor,’ has been arrested by U.S. federal authorities. "Mexican authorities want him returned to stand trial on an aggravated homicide charge" for allegedly murdering his wife, Monica, about seven months ago at a hotel in Cancun, the Los Angeles Times reports.

According to the article, Beresford-Redman "is due in a Los Angeles court [today] Wednesday [Nov. 17, 2010] for the first hearing in what is expected to be a long fight over his extradition."

According to People, the allegations contained in a report about the case filed in court on behalf of Mexican authorities include:

An allegation "that Monica’s body was found on April 8 in a sewage tank on the hotel grounds. An autopsy found she died by asphyxia by suffocation, and that she had bruising on her face and a blunt head wound," and an allegation "that during an April 7 interview with investigators, Beresford-Redman had scratches or abrasions on both hands, behind his ear, on his left shin and on his right ankle, which he said happened when he was climbing a slippery wall and swimming earlier on the vacation."

The L.A. Times report also says that , "The complaint states [Monica] discovered her husband was having an affair before the trip and had been seeking a divorce; her sisters have said the couple traveled to Mexico in an attempt to reconcile."
