De Niro Working on Chicago-Based Gangster TV Series

Dec 22, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Success breeds success so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that HBO’s "Boardwalk Empire" is spawning similar projects, including one from Robert De Niro’s production company, reports Chicagoist.com.

Reportedly, the book "Lords of the Levee: The Story of Bathhouse John and Hinky Dink," which chronicles Chicago circa 1892, when colorful characters ruled the city’s First Ward, is being turned into a television series.

The time period extends to 1938, the time of Al Capone. In the Brian De Palma feature "The Untouchables," De Niro played Capone, so is it possible he would do it again?

De Niro’s company is planning to shoot in 2011 in Chicago.
