The fairy tale looks like it’s turned into a bad reality show.
Says EW, "After nearly two years of marriage, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, 39, and Jennifer Carpenter, 31, are divorcing."
The article continues, "An exclusive joint statement to EW from their representatives read: ‘Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.’ "
EW was following up on a story broken earlier today by Access Hollywood. That report said, "A source tells Access that, according to a person very close to the production, the real life husband and wife, who play brother and sister Dexter & Deborah Morgan on the hit Showtime show, haven’t been getting along on set all season and that it’s widely known an official separation announcement is imminent…Additionally, our source was informed that Hall, Carpenter and the rest of the show’s cast are very worried about how the two of them are going to work as closely together on set next season as they’re usually required to do."
Of course showbiz marriages, seemingly more than most marriages, are particularly fragile. The most famous couple in TV history, both off-screen and on-screen, was Lucy and Desi. After they filmed their last TV episode as husband and wife on their TV show, they filed for divorce in real life, though, in reality, they hadn’t lived together for an entire year at that point.
