Oprah Reveals the Advice She Gave to the Duchess of York

Dec 29, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Oprah Winfrey tells Parade Magazine that she connected with Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, when she did an interview with her to discuss the tape that showed her trying to get money for access to her former husband, Prince Andrew. Winfrey said she also had advice for Ferguson, telling her not to join a celebrity chef television show and counseling that the step wouldn’t help the Duchess rehabilitate herself.

Winfrey said the last thing she said to Ferguson at the end of the interview was, "Don’t let me see you on ‘Dancing With the Stars.’" Ferguson later emailed her to ask Winfrey’s advice on the cooking show, and Winfrey said she advised Ferguson, "That’s not going to help you. How are you going to rehabilitate yourself on a celebrity chef show? You should be working on yourself.”

Ferguson did not do the cooking show, and will instead be appearing in a six-part documentary called "Finding Sarah" that will debut on Winfrey’s new network, OWN, this spring.
