The star of Comedy Central’s "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart, has a new assignment, the AP reports. Stewart was expected to be appointed to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum board at a meeting of the organization on Thursday afternoon, according to the report.

The Emmy-winning TV host has become an activist for the survivors and first responders to the 9/11 tragedy, including pushing for legislation to provide benefits to those who became ill after working in the ruins of the World Trade Center.

  1. Way to go Jon Stewart, he will be an asset to the committee. Even though his Daily Show with Jon Stewart is on the Comedy Channel, I know he is serious about the plight of the victims and responders of 9/11. I will be tuning in to see how the memorial progresses. Coming on 10 years now, seems like yesterday when I saw the reports of this tragedy on the news.
