On the OWN reality series "Ryan & Tatum: The O’Neals," Ryan O’Neal and daughter Tatum O’Neal appear to reconcile their troubled relationship. But in real life, Ryan says he and Tatum never talk, and he blames it in part on Oprah Winfrey, reports the New York Post, citing an interview in TV Guide magazine.

Ryan O’Neal, the Oscar-nominated star of "Love Story" who was the focus of the OWN reality show along with his Oscar-winning daughter Tatum, told the publication, "We’re further apart now than we were when we started the show. So thanks, Oprah, for all your help.”

O’Neal implied that Winfrey and her OWN network exploited the fragile father-daughter relationship for the show. A representative for OWN did not respond to a request for a comment for the story.

Tatum O’Neal won an Oscar in 1974, at age 10, for “Paper Moon,” in which she starred with her dad.

  1. um, no Mr. O’Neal… you exploited it, she just provided the vehicle for it.

  2. He needs to get over the fact that SHE won the oscar and not him. he was a bad father, simple as that.
