Character Actor Who Appeared in More Than 150 TV Shows Dies at 92

A veteran film and television actor who appeared in more than 150 TV shows has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Warren Stevens, known for playing "Doc" Ostrow in the 1956 film "Forbidden Planet," was 92.

On television, Stevens was a regular on the NBC adventure series "Tales of the 77th Bengal Lancers" in the 1950s and was the voice of John Bracken in the 1969-70 NBC series "Bracken’s World," about the head of a fictional Hollywood studio, the piece notes.

The veteran character actor also appeared in TV shows ranging from "Star Trek" to "Return to Peyton Place," the story adds.

In "Forbidden Planet" his character dies after using a "plastic educator" to increase his intelligence, with the goal of finding the secret of the invisible monster on the planet Altair, the story says.

Stevens died Tuesday at home in Sherman Oaks, Calif., of respiratory failure, the story reports.
