IFC Orders Single-Camera Comedy to Series

Cable channel IFC has given an order for 10 episodes of a single-camera comedy series, Margaret Lyons reports in New York Magazine’s Vulture blog.

The order is for an autobiographical show from "WTF" podcast host Marc Maron, who produced and shot a pilot last year, the story notes. Maron stars as himself in the pilot, with a younger girlfriend, an overbearing father (played by Ed Asner) and a comedy podcast he operates from his garage.

The pilot has a realistic style and weaves in segments from a podcast along the lines of Maron’s "WTF," the story notes.

"Part of what makes Maron’s ‘WTF’ podcast so compelling is just how candid and open he is about his addictions, divorces, sex habits, eating disorders, anxieties, family issues, fears, hopes — it’s incredibly, and sometimes uncomfortably, intimate," Lyons writes.

The series is set to premiere in late 2013.
