Tuesday was a tough night for the broadcast networks in Nielsen overnights, with shows on CBS, Fox and NBC hitting season lows while one of ABC’s showcase series suffered a huge loss of viewers.

CBS’s “NCIS” matched last week’s season low with a 3.4 average rating in viewers 18-49; Fox’s “New Girl” dropped 7% from last week to a series low 2.5, while “Raising Hope” was off 6% to a season low 1.5; NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” fell to a 1.9, a series low for a regular telecast; and ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” airing its first results show of the season, was down 30% from the equivalent show last season to a 3.0, TVbytheNumbers.com reports.

Other bad news included a 5% drop from last week for CBS’s “Unforgettable” with a 2.0 in 18-49; a 17% decline for NBC’s “Fashion Star” to a 1.5; and a hefty falloff of 32% from last year for ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” recap show “The Story So Far.”

A few shows managed to break the downward trend. The best news in the bunch was for ABC’s “Body of Proof,” which surged 50% to a 2.1 average rating in 18-49, from a scant 1.4 for its previous original episode. Fox’s “Breaking In” was up 8% from last week to a 1.4, while CBS’s “NCIS: Los Angeles” elevated itself from last week’s season low by climbing 4% to a 2.9.

CBS wound up on top for prime time overall with a 2.8 average rating in the 18-49 demo, followed by ABC (2.3 average), NBC (1.8) and Fox (1.7). In total viewers, CBS led with 14.5 million, ahead of ABC (11.9 million), NBC (5.1 million) and Fox (3.6 million).
