A "Saturday Night Live" cast member has bailed out from the lead role in a Fox comedy project, Deadline.com reports. Exiting the sitcom pilot "Ned Fox Is My Manny" was “SNL’s” Abby Elliott.

Elliott wasn’t the right fit for the role, according to the story. The decision was made after the pilot’s table read, and a search has started for another actress to play an uptight single mom whose brother helps raise her daughter, the article notes.

Elliott hadn’t performed in any other big television roles outside of her work on "Saturday Night Live," the piece adds. It’s expected that she’ll now continue in her "SNL" job, where her work includes impersonations of celebrities such as Rachel Maddow and Zooey Deschanel, the article notes.
