Showrunner Leaving ‘The Office’ as Contract Talks With Cast Members Stall

Contract talks with "The Office" actors John Krasinski, Ed Helms, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak have stalled, while showrunner Paul Lieberstein, who also plays Toby on the show, is stepping down as executive producer and showrunner, reports Deadline.com.

Lieberstein may continue to work on the NBC show while he prepares Rainn Wilson’s spinoff, "The Farm," and as the network starts a search for a new showrunner, the story notes.

The cast members in negotiations don’t have deals beyond this season, but locking them in is critical given the potential departures of Wilson, for the spinoff, and Mindy Kaling, who has a pilot at Fox, the piece points out.
