Apr 3, 2012  •  Post A Comment

A legendary comedian will be honored at the second annual Comedy Awards with the Johnny Carson Award for Comedic Excellence, reports ComedyCentral.com.

Presenting the award to Don Rickles will be the host of "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart.

In last year’s inaugural award presentation, David Letterman received the Johnny Carson Award.

Rickles has been one of America’s top comedians since he emerged in the 1960s as the ultimate insult comic. The Carson Award figures to be especially significant for Rickles because he was a frequent visitor to "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson," first appearing on the show in 1965. He went on to appear on the show more than 100 times, and also guest-hosted on a number of occasions.

Comedy Central will broadcast the Comedy Awards Sunday, May 6, at 9 p.m. ET.
