Current TV Sees Huge Ratings Drop After Olbermann Departure

Current TV saw a big drop in ratings when it replaced Keith Olbermann with Eliot Spitzer, after Olbermann had been fired by the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Spitzer, who hosted "Viewpoint" in a Friday debut, drew only 47,000 viewers, with just 10,000 viewers in the 25-54 demographic, the story notes. That represents a 74% drop from Olbermann’s March average in the 8 p.m. hour, the piece says.

As previously reported, Olbermann was fired from Current TV last week, allegedly after he made finicky demands and failed to promote the network. Current is citing breach of contract, sabotage and disparagement, THR reports.

Olbermann is set to appear tonight on CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman” to discuss his departure from Current, the story notes.

  1. Spitzer has not proven to be a ratings draw anywhere he has hosted. They shouldn’t be surprised. They would get higher ratings with Regis.

  2. weekday mornings on current tv watch bill press and stephanie miller
