A comedy series from one of the stars of the long-running NBC hit "Friends" has been picked up by NBC, Deadline.com reports. The network gave a 13-episode order to Matthew Perry’s “Go On,” the story says.

Perry stars in and co-executive produces the project about a sportscaster who finds help from the members of his mandatory support group, the story says.

The early pickup means that "Go On" will be able to start staffing immediately, gaining the advantage of getting its pick of writers, the story says. The decision may place pressure on other networks to start picking up projects in order to lock in writers, the story says.
