Producer of TV Project Calls His Lead the ‘Most Insured Actress That Ever Walked on a Soundstage’

The producer of a high-profile television project says his lead actress — whose casting has been making headlines for weeks — "may be the most insured actress that ever walked on a soundstage,” E! Online reports.

Larry Thompson, who is producing “Liz & Dick" for Lifetime, made the comment about Lindsay Lohan, who will play screen legend Elizabeth Taylor in the TV movie. Lohan’s casting became official earlier this week, as we reported previously.

Because of Lohan’s troubled past, the star costs more to insure, the story notes. Thompson said he moved the shooting location from Canada to Los Angeles to "minimize some risk," the piece adds. But he expressed confidence in the choice of Lohan for the role, pointing to the vulnerability she brings to the role.

"Now if I learn to regret it — sitting here today I think it is still, for the movie, a great risk to run," he said, according to the piece.

Lohan is excited about the project, Thompson told the publication. “She has a noble purpose,” he said. “It’s not like she’s going to go do a little job — the responsibility of playing Elizabeth Taylor is large."

Thompson makes a reference to a "Plan B," apparently a nod to the possibility that something might go wrong with Lohan’s casting. But he does not specify what the backup plan might be.

  1. She is perfect for the part. Her drinking and drug issues will match well with Liz at the tike she was with Burton.
