An actor who has been a familiar face in the movies for decades — and who recently starred in a reality series about his relationship with his daughter — has announced that he has prostate cancer, People.com reports.

Ryan O’Neal, whose former partner Farrah Fawcett died at age 62 of anal cancer in 2009, said he has been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, according to the report.

"Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery," O’Neal said in a statement.

The "Love Story" actor, 70, was treated successfully for leukemia in the late 1990s, the piece adds. He recently starred with his daughter, actress Tatum O’Neal, in the OWN reality show “Ryan & Tatum: The O’Neals,” about their efforts to rehabilitate their troubled relationship.

Ryan O’Neal has a memoir of his life with Fawcett, titled “Both of Us,” coming out May 1.

  1. He’s an ass anyway it fits him. Anyone trying to pick up his own daughter at his girlfriends funeral deserves it.
