Actor Known for Porn Stars and Hotel Meltdowns Earns a Much Different Distinction

Actor Charlie Sheen may be known more for his wild antics — including frolicking with porn stars and getting involved in late-night hotel room brawls — but now he’s adding a much different distinction to his resume, TMZ.com reports.

Sheen is donating at least $1 million to the United Service Organization — a contribution that would be the largest single donation the USO has ever received from one person, the story reports. The group provides a variety of services for men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The money will come from the profits from Sheen’s new FX show "Anger Management," with Sheen vowing to donate 1% of profits — a commitment that the story says will add up to a minimum of $1 million and an unlimited cap.

“[Sheen’s] support is greatly appreciated, especially from our wounded warriors and their families," said General John I. Pray Jr., executive vice president and Joint Chief of Staff, U.S. Air Force, in a statement.

As previously reported, "Anger Management" has been losing viewers since its debut, with its fourth episode shedding shedding 28% of total viewers from the previous week.

  1. Is Charlie hoping this gesture will get people to tune in rather than out … and guarantee him work for awhile (if the show is picked up it is automatically 90 eps).

  2. Yes he is. And it’s pitiful isn’t it.

  3. Winning!
