In the wake of the deadly shooting early Friday in a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., one intriguing media twist being reported is that two hosts of the “Today” show who have been making headlines at NBC will be reunited, TMZ.com reports.

“Ann Curry has been tapped to co-anchor ‘Today’ this weekend along with Savannah Guthrie … the woman who replaced her as co-host of ‘Today earlier this month,” the story reports.

The report says NBC is sending both Curry and Guthrie to colorado to provide "special coverage" of the shooting aftermath. “Today” host Matt Lauer will not be sent along, the report notes.

Curry wrapped up her tenure on “Today” June 28, with Guthrie officially taking over July 9, the story notes.

  1. The pairing of Ms Guthrie and Ms Curry may serve to heal frayed wounds within the outlet and disenfranchised viewership, something that most tragedies serve to do quite well. In some ironic way the tragedy of Aurora, Colorado may ultimately serve to stem the negative fall out at NBC.
