A former sitcom star is warning Americans in a new video clip about the dangers of same-sex marriage, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Former "Growing Pains" star Kirk Cameron, who has been vocal in the past about his opposition to same-sex marriage, is featured in what the story describes as a religious infomercial.
"If we want a great future in this world, we have to take God at his word, and God makes it really clear that society and civilization is really held together by the glue of families," Cameron says in the video. "And so when a man and a woman come together and they say I do, they are committing for a lifetime to love each other and to model what love is."
Cameron is introduced in the clip by a fan of "Growing Pains," and is turning his thoughts on relationships into a traveling seminar that draws on relationship advice found in Cameron’s film “Fireproof,” the story adds. It’s part of his partnership with the National Organization for Marriage and its spinoff group the Marriage Anti-Defamation Alliance.
The actor has previously called same-sex weddings "unnatural" and "destructive," the piece notes.
