Actor Sylvester Stallone, whose son Sage Moonblood Stallone was found dead Friday in his Hollywood home, has commented on his grief and on speculation about the cause of Sage’s death, People magazine reports.

Rumors surfaced almost immediately after the news of the death, incuding a report that Sage Stallone, 36, died from a prescription drug overdose. But officials said such reports are premature, and autopsy results will not be known for several weeks.

Sylvester Stallone, 66, said in a statement: "When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son’s memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha."

The actor added: "This agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son’s memory and soul left in peace."
