Ratings results are in for Savannah Guthrie’s first week as co-host of “Today,” and the NBC morning show lost to ABC rival "Good Morning America," TVNewser.com reports.

"GMA" beat "Today" by more than 350,000 total viewers, marking a record for “GMA.” In the key news demo of adults 25-54, ABC was just 2,000 viewers behind NBC. ABC hasn’t won a week in the demographic for the past 16 years, the story notes.

NBC News President Steve Capus dismissed a query about the show’s ratings in a call with reporters, noting that the ratings are "a small piece of this entire portfolio; any number of our different properties are going to have good days and not so good days," according to the report.

  1. Steve needs to wake up and realize that viewers were (and are) offended by the way Ann Curry was treated. She was a long-time member of the “Today” family – part of the brand. Coke learned long ago that you better be sure that consumers want “New Coke” before tossing “old Coke” aside. Coke drinkers revolted when something they liked was taken away. Dumping Ann was yet another bad move by people at the top that don’t view NBC from the same vantage point as viewers do.

  2. NBC – wake up…the real problem is…Matt Lauer!!!

  3. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – both GMA and Today are crap if you’re actually looking for news. I switched to CBS This Morning – at least their first hour is for the most part actual news/analysis.

  4. Face it, the radical views of msnbc and hateful spew hurts the nbcs news “brand”.
I was an NBC loyalist for 30+ years. No longer……
