Hmm. Looks like if you want to really have a hot property you need to get your hands on a story that’s 150 years old or so.
Take, for example, the Charles Dickens novel "Great Expectations," first published as a newspaper serial in 1860. Just a day after word surfaced about a Reese Witherspoon adaptation of the book, Deadline.com reports that “Great Expectations” has inspired another television project.
The newest twist on the classic novel has been put in development by ABC and is called "Legacy," the report notes. From producer Debra Martin Chase, the project is said to be a sexy soap with a modern take on the classic novel. Jeremy Anderson and Patrick Moss will write the script and co-executive produce.
As previously reported, Witherspoon is executive producing an adaptation of "Great Expectations" for the CW.
