Lifetime enjoyed a huge night Sunday with its original movie “Steel Magnolias” — which followed a strong Saturday night with the world premiere of “Abducted: The Carlina White Story.” The cable channel reports that an average of 6.5 million total viewers tuned in for “Magnolias,” making it Lifetime’s third-most-watched telecast of all time.
The star-studded remake of the 1989 movie, featuring Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad, Adepero Oduye, Condola Rashad, Jill Scott and Alfre Woodard, became the No. 1 cable movie in total viewers since 2007, Lifetime reported.
The movie set a Lifetime record in women 25-54 with an average of 2.5 million viewers. In the demo of adults 25-54, the 3.2 million average for the movie was Lifetime’s best number since 1995.
Saturday’s world premiere of the Lifetime original movie “Abducted: The Carlina White Story” performed well too, delivering 4.1 million total viewers, 1.8 million adults 25-54, 1.6 million adults 18-49, 1.4 million women 25-54 and 1.3 million women 18-49.
