One High-Profile Daytime Talk Show Calls It Quits

One recent entry in the increasingly crowded field of daytime talk shows has decided to cut its losses and will end its run after two seasons, TheWrap.com reports.

The show is Anderson Cooper’s "Anderson Live," which will hang it up at the end of the current season. The show, distributed by Warner Bros., failed to catch on with daytime audiences.

In a statement, a spokeswoman for the show said: "We are extremely proud of Anderson and the show that he and the entire production team have produced. While we made significant changes to the format, set and produced it live in its second season, the series will not be coming back for a third season in a marketplace that has become increasingly difficult to break through."

The spokeswoman added: "We will continue to deliver top-quality shows throughout next summer.”

Said Cooper: "I am very proud of the work that our terrific staff has put into launching and sustaining our show for two seasons. I am also grateful to [production company] Telepictures for giving me the opportunity, and indebted to viewers, who have responded so positively. I look forward to doing more great shows this season, and though I¹m sorry we won¹t be continuing, I have truly enjoyed it."

The show premiered in September 2011 as “Anderson,” later changing its name to “Anderson Live” as part of a format change designed to help it compete with a batch of new talk shows built around personalities including Katie Couric, Ricki Lake and Jeff Probst.

  1. I would watch Anderson Cooper over Katie Couric, Ricki Lake, and Jeff Probst any day!

  2. Katie Couric is next, she is not a good reporter, and she is worse as a talk show host….Katie needs to go away, before she makes ABC bankrupt…their half way there now…..Cancel Katie….
