Actress Reese Witherspoon is executive producing an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel "Great Expectations" for the CW, Deadline.com reports.

Called "Expectations," the project will focus on a small-town girl who wants to find success in San Francisco but is disillusioned by the city’s reality, the piece notes. She then finds her fortunes helped by an anonymous benefactor.

The adaptation will be written by film writer J. Mills Goodloe.
