The former star of Discovery Channel’s "Man vs. Wild," Bear Grylls, will be doing a new reality show for NBC, reports Entertainment Weekly. The network is calling it "Get Out Alive," and Grylls will anchor the program, in which contestants in teams of two will face extreme tests in the wilderness. The show will debut next summer.
In a statement, Grylls said, “’Get Out Alive’ will be raw, tough and unrelenting, but it will also inspire and teach the essentials that one day may just save your life. The goal is to empower people with the ultimate in both survival and teamwork, and that brings incredible reward — but first there must be some pain.”
The network has greenlighted eight episodes, which will be produced by Bear Grylls Ventures and Ben Silverman’s multimedia studio, Electus.
Paul Telegdy, president of alternative programming at NBC Entertainment, commented: “To meet Bear is to meet a force of nature. He is a magnetic and charismatic talent, whose infectious enthusiasm for adventure inspires people to push themselves beyond their limits.”
