The television show "Beverly Hills Cop," in development at CBS, has cast its lead character, who is the son of the central character in the film series, Axel Foley, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

Aaron Foley will be played by comedian Brandon T. Jackson, best known for his role in "Tropic Thunder." Eddie Murphy, who played Axel Foley in the films, will appear in the pilot and may recur if the show is ordered to series. He’s also executive producing.

The pilot is from Sony TV and Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”). The drama is being developed as a continuation of the film franchise that launched with Murphy’s 1984 blockbuster.
