With its “Dancing with the Stars” finale performing below the ratings marks of recent season finales for the show, ABC attracted just enough viewers Tuesday night to eke out a win over CBS and NBC in the key 18-49 demo, based on Nielsen overnight figures.

TVbytheNumbers.com reports that ABC finished prime time with a 2.8 average rating in adults 18-49, just ahead of CBS’s 2.7 average and NBC’s 2.5, with Univision coming in at 1.8 and Fox trailing with a 1.7. CBS came in on top in total viewers with an average of 14.4 million to ABC’s 13.9 million, followed by NBC with 7.0 million, Univision with 4.4 million and Fox with 3.4 million.

ABC’s two-hour “Dancing” finale turned in a 3.0 average in the 18-49 demo, a 33% improvement over last week but down 6% from the spring finale and down 27% from the fall finale a year ago.

CBS’s two “NCIS” shows turned in strong performances, but “Vegas” brought down the network’s average. “NCIS” was up 17% from a week ago with a 3.5 average in viewers 18-49 while “NCIS: Los Angeles” climbed 4% to a 2.9. “Vegas” matched its series low with a 1.6, off 11% from a week ago.

NBC had the top show of the night, with “The Voice” delivering a 3.8 average in 18-49, improving 12% on last week. The rest of NBC’s lineup was also up: “Go On” turned in a 2.5, up 19%; “The New Normal” had a 1.7, up 13%; and “Parenthood” came in with a 1.8, up 6%.

Even with its fifth-place finish, Fox’s numbers were up across the board: “Raising Hope” rose 13% from last week to a 1.7 in the 18-49 demo, “Ben and Kate” was up 27% to a 1.4, “New Girl” ticked up 15% to a 2.3 and “The Mindy Project” also rose 15%, to a 1.5.
