Lindsay Lohan was arrested this morning in New York City, according to media reports. The actress was arrested at about 4 a.m. for allegedly punching a woman at the Avenue nightclub, reports TMZ.com.
Newsday reports that Lohan was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. She was expected to be released after being issued a desk appearance ticket.
Lohan got into an argument with a female patron at Avenue, and the dispute became physical, according to police.
TMZ reports: “Law enforcement tells us prior to the fight words were exchanged between Lindsay and the woman as they sat in separate booths near each other. Lindsay said something to the effect of, ‘Give me my space.’ Some time passed and then, for some reason, Lindsay allegedly punched the girl in the left side of her face.”
When police arrived, Lohan had exited the club and was in a car leaving the area, but the police intercepted the car and arrested her.
As reported previously, Lohan, who is on probation in connection with a jewelry theft, already risks having her probation revoked because of another incident, in which she’s accused of lying to police. The charge in the latest incident could also trigger a probation violation.
