Actress Lindsay Lohan will be charged with lying to police, according to a report on TMZ.com. The anticipated charge is in connection with a June 2012 car accident on Pacific Coast Highway, the piece reports.

As previously reported, Lohan was driving a Porsche when the car collided with an 18-wheeler.

The actress reportedly told police that she was not driving the car when it hit the truck, but multiple witnesses said she was, the story notes.

She will face a misdemeanor charge from the Santa Monica City Attorney, with the charge possibly to be filed this week. The charge could cause problems for Lohan, who is on probation for a jewelry theft and could have a probation violation triggered by a criminal charge. The judge in the jewelry case could send her to prison, the piece notes.

The report adds: “Law enforcement sources tell us … cops found prescription pills in her purse after the crash. Witnesses tell us pills were also scattered in her trunk. Our sources say authorities were prepared to charge LiLo with drug crimes, but Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, gave cops documentations from Lindsay’s doctor, saying the pills were properly prescribed. Authorities then backed off that charge.”

The report notes that Lohan “almost dodged that bullet” on the charge of lying to authorities. TMZ reports: “You may recall, after the accident, Lindsay went to the hospital where she was interviewed by cops, and that’s when she told them she wasn’t behind the wheel. Her lawyer, Shawn Holley, made a mad dash for the hospital to muzzle her client … but she was a few minutes too late.”
