Pay-cable channel Starz has made the decision to pull the plug on a drama series, USA Today reports. The series is “Boss,” which stars Kelsey Grammer as a ruthless Chicago mayor dealing with a brain ailment and struggling to remain in power.

The show, which wrapped up its 10-episode second season last month, won’t be picked up for a third season, the story reports.

In a statement, Starz announced: "After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with ‘Boss.’ We remain proud of this award-winning show, its exceptional cast and writers and are grateful to Kelsey Grammer, (creator) Farhad Safinia and our partners at Lionsgate TV."

The report notes that a two-hour final episode has been discussed, but no deal has been made.

“In an August interview, Grammer said the series ideally would take five or six seasons to play out, but that the show would try to adjust if the allotted time were shorter,” the piece adds.

Grammer won a Golden Globe for his performance in the show’s first season.

  1. Maybe Kelsey is right… you do get discriminated against if you are openly Republican. Look at the facts… looks to be true. Such a shame we don’t have open minds… like the folks in Hollywood say we should have… yet they don’t. What Bigots!
