Cablevision customers avoided a blackout of Viacom networks on New Year’s Day after the companies reached a new carriage deal following two months of negotiations, reports the New York Post.

The companies, which issued a statement late Monday night about the agreement, didn’t disclose terms of the deal.

The agreement, made before the Dec. 31 deadline was reached, surprised some given that both Cablevision and Viacom’s customers have experienced a number of blackouts during the past 12 months, the story adds.
