Actress Toni Collette is set to star in a new pilot produced by Jerry Bruckheimer for CBS, Deadline.com reports. The network ordered the pilot for the drama project "Hostages."

It’s CBS’s first official drama pilot order of the current cycle, the story notes.

The project, which is based on an Israeli format, is about a family caught in a political conspiracy. Collette will play Ellen, a surgeon who operates on the U.S. president. When her family is taken hostage, she has to save their lives.

While the show was developed in Israel, it wasn’t produced in the country, and a U.S. adaptation was brought to Bruckheimer TV, which then bought the rights, the story notes.

"’Hostages’ is among the slew of projects with big commitments this season that started casting before a formal pilot order," the story says. "Another hourlong CBS project whose pickup is pending, ‘Beverly Hills Cop,’ also cast its lead role with Brandan T. Jackson ahead of a pilot greenlight."
