A post-apocalyptic science-fiction thriller that has invited comparisons not only to "Lord of the Flies" but also to “The Hunger Games” has received a pilot order from the CW, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.
The project, "The Hundred," is about a spaceship holding the last of humanity — 100 juvenile delinquents — who are sent back to Earth to investigate recolonizing the planet, the story says.
It’s based on the upcoming young adult book series "The Hundred," written by Kass Morgan.
The CW is moving further into high-concept material, the piece notes. The network also ordered pilots for “Oxygen,” focusing on a romance between a human girl and an alien boy at a suburban high school, and “Reign,” about Mary Queen of Scots’ teenage years in France.
