Mel Karmazin, who was the president of Viacom before moving to SiriusXM, which he recently left, has a new job in mind: running the recovery efforts for New Jersey’s Hurricane Sandy victims, reports the New York Post.

“I would be the czar … or the pope of the Jersey Shore,” Karmazin said in an interview with CNBC’s David Faber. A clip of the video appears below.

Karmazin said he is considering calling New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to ask for a job.

"We lost a guest house there; we have another home there," he said. "I have a passion to try to see that Jersey Shore come back."

Reminded by Faber that he would have a boss — Gov. Christie — Karmazin joked, "The scenario would be the pope of the Jersey Shore, so there’s no checks and balances.”

Christie’s office said it already has co-heads of its recovery efforts, the Post adds. They are Mary Pat Christie, New Jersey’s first lady, and Marc Ferzan, the head of its Office of Recovery and Rebuilding.
