One of the most famous legs in the history of movies, Mrs. Robinson’s on the poster for the 1967 movie “The Graduate,” belonged not to Anne Bancroft, who played Mrs. Robinson in the film, but to another actress — Linda Gray of “Dallas,” reports toofab.com.
Gray appeared with Anderson Cooper on his syndicated talk show, “Anderson Live,” on Tuesday and shared the story with him and the world. Bancroft was unavailable that day to shoot the photo, so Gray filled in. She was paid $25 for the gig.
NOT a secret. It’s been known since she played Mrs. Robinson on the UK stage in 2001. An article was even written about it: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/62239-Linda-Grays-Leg-Has-Long-History-in-The-Graduate
