Oprah Winfrey’s interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong, which will air in two parts starting Thursday, Jan. 17, at 9 p.m., could be bad news for Fox’s "American Idol," potentially siphoning off viewers from the singing competition, reports Bloomberg.

OWN will air Winfrey’s interview with Armstrong as part of “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” starting halfway through the two-hour second night of "Idol." Both shows have women as their largest viewer group.

Part two of the Armstrong interview airs Friday, Jan. 18, at 9 p.m.

Fox has heavily promoted "Idol," trying to stop viewer losses with new judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban. Viewership of "Idol" has fallen to 17 million, while at its 2006 peak, the program drew more than 30 million.
