"The Selection," described as "The Hunger Games" meets "The Bachelor," received a green light for a pilot from the CW — its second from the network, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

The project was developed for this season and received a pilot order last year, but was passed over and then reworked, the story notes.

It’s based on a novel by Kiera Cass, and tells the story of a young girl who joins a televised competition to win the country’s wealthy prince.

Aimee Teegarden of "Friday Night Lights," who starred in the original pilot, is no longer attached to the project, the piece notes.
