An NBC series that has already suffered a series of setbacks received another piece of bad news as one of its stars landed another job. Deadline.com reports that Will Arnett, a co-star of NBC’s "Up All Night," will play the lead in CBS’s untitled Greg Garcia pilot.
The casting comes with "Up All Night" not yet officially canceled, but it is widely believed that the show won’t be moving forward. Co-star Christina Applegate announced her departure earlier this month, throwing the series into turmoil. The cast hasn’t yet been released, the piece adds.
Formally, Arnett’s new job is in second position to “Up All Night,” the report notes. The actor has been wooed by a number of projects since Applegate’s departure.
The project from Garcia — who created “Raising Hope” and “My Name Is Earl” — is about a recently divorced man who is also involved in his parents’ marital problems, the report notes.
"Up All Night" co-star Maya Rudolph has also been approached for pilots, with NBC’s Sean Hayes comedy among the projects expressing interest, the story says.
