A cameraman working on the CBS drama series “NCIS: Los Angeles” was seriously injured on the set Thursday night, Nellie Andreeva reports on Deadline.com.

“I’ve learned that a steadicam operator was pinned against something last night, suffering serious injuries,” Andreeva reported late this morning. “He is currently in the hospital. Production was shut down immediately following the accident.”

Production was set to resume today. As we reported earlier this month, an “NCIS: LA” spinoff is in the works starring John Corbett. Andreeva notes that the accident occurred during work on the backdoor pilot for the planted spinoff.

“This is the third major accident on a set of a TV show since the beginning of the year,” Andreeva notes. “In January, a stuntman suffered serious head injuries during filming of ABC’s series ‘Castle,’ with a guest actress also hurt. And two weeks ago, a helicopter pilot, a cameraman and a cast member died in a helicopter crash while filming a new reality TV series for Discovery Channel.”
