Jeff Zucker, the new boss at CNN, is talking with the former NBC News boss about job opportunities at the cable news network, reports the New York Post.
Steve Capus, who left NBC less than three weeks ago, has also been approached by academic institutions, Silicon Valley firms and other media companies, the story notes.
"While neither is committing to anything yet, Zucker has notably just hired former NBC colleague Allison Gollust as his top spokeswoman — and speculation is rife she won’t be the only NBC alum he’ll draft to Columbus Circle," the story says.
The piece notes that Capus could replace Mark Whitaker, the former CNN managing editor, who left CNN as Zucker arrived.
A source familiar with Capus and Zucker said of Capus: “He and Jeff are close. They work well together.”
